Investment memo: our current view
Quality franchise, priced near our base case, with the funding question now in the open. The core business is still growing fast at very large scale: Q3 2026 revenue was USD 64.60B, +26% (confirmed, 21 Oct 2026), ad impressions +10% and average price per ad +14%, and Q4 guidance of USD 73 to 76B implies +22 to 27% (est.). Daily active people reached 3.64B (+3%), so growth now comes from price and AI-driven ad performance, not from new users.
What changed in 2026 is the cash. Capex including finance-lease principal was USD 34.91B in Q3 and is guided to USD 135 to 145B for the year (confirmed), against USD 72.22B in 2025. Q3 free cash flow was negative USD 2.12B (confirmed, company definition), the first negative quarter in this review. Meta carries USD 454.52B of non-cancelable commitments, USD 121.41B of it due in 2027, plus up to USD 41.49B of residual value guarantees on two off-balance-sheet data-center ventures (confirmed, 10-Q 30 Sep 2026). To fund it Meta issued USD 25B of bonds in May, and in the last week of October raised USD 12.5B of 6.50% mandatory convertible preferred and sold USD 25B of Class A stock forward at USD 625 (confirmed, 424B5 prospectus supplements and 8-K for the event of 26 Oct 2026). Buybacks stopped: none in the first nine months of 2026, after USD 26.25B in the same period of 2025.
The reported quarter also carried a USD 9.89B charge for the August 2026 agreement with 52 state attorneys general on teen mental health (payments of up to about USD 18.59B, confirmed). Excluding it, Q3 operating income was USD 22.88B and diluted EPS USD 7.40 (company figures).
At USD 614.99 (30 Oct 2026 close) the market cap is about USD 1.57T and EV about USD 1.57T (est.), 6.1x our 2026 revenue estimate and about 21.6x 2026 GAAP EPS of about USD 28.4 (est.). Our 2030 scenario values per share today are USD 304 bust, USD 665 base, USD 1,088 boom (est.). External anchors sit above the price: Morningstar fair value USD 850, 3 stars, wide moat (speculated: secondary report dated 21 Oct 2026); MarketBeat consensus USD 833.12 on 57 analysts (30 Oct 2026). The average of the three (Morningstar, consensus, ours) is USD 782.71, 27.3% above the close.
Next hard test: Q4 and full-year 2026 results, expected late January 2027 (est. around 28 January; Meta has not announced the date): revenue against the USD 73 to 76B guide, the first 2027 capex number, and whether full-year operating income ex the legal charge is above 2025's USD 83.28B. The Class C charter takes effect 19 January 2027, just before.

One daily active person, full year 2026 · est.
The product is attention, priced through an auction run by Meta's ranking models. The cutaway nests the advertiser budget down to Meta's profit on one person; the ladder puts one average daily active person's year in dollars.
Money ladder for one daily active person, full year 2026 (est.; inputs confirmed): FoA revenue about USD 254B (9M USD 180.44B plus the Q4 guide midpoint less RL) over about 3.60B average DAP gives about USD 70.6 per person per year. Capex at the USD 140B guide midpoint is about USD 38.9 per person, 55% of revenue per person. Total expenses at the USD 177B midpoint are about USD 49.2 per person. FoA operating income excluding the legal charges is about USD 109.6B, or about USD 30.4 per person; RL loses about USD 5.1 per person (USD 18 to 19B guide). Closing comparison: in 2026 Meta spends on capex more than half of what one user brings in, while operating profit per user is about USD 30.

| Meta | Social and messaging ads | USD 63.06B, Q3 2026, +26% | yes | confirmed, release 21 Oct 2026 |

On these numbers Meta's quarterly ad revenue is about 77% of Google's and growing about 2.5x as fast (est., using the secondary Google figure). We found no confirmed 2026 global digital-ad market total, so we give no share figure; the growth gap is the measurable point.
Scenarios: 2030 earnings under bust, base and boom (31 October 2026)
Arithmetic: 2030 revenue from the 2026 estimate of USD 256.2B, times an operating margin, less tax, over the share count after the October equity raises and stock pay, times an exit P/E, discounted 4.2 years at 10% (factor 1.492).

All est. The base case assumes a 15% revenue CAGR for 2026 to 2030, below 2025's 22% and 2026's about 27%, and an operating margin below 2025's 41% because depreciation from the 2026 and 2027 build reaches the income statement. The single driver of the boom case is whether Muse-class models produce a disclosed second revenue stream; the capacity ceiling is the USD 454.52B of commitments Meta has already signed. The consensus target (USD 833) sits between our base and boom cases. Implied CAGRs from the 2026 base: bust 8%, base 15%, boom 20% (revenue).

The Class C recapitalisation (confirmed, 8-K 21 Oct 2026). A special committee of independent directors (adviser Moelis) recommended it; shareholders approved by written consent on 20 October, which the controlling holder can deliver alone. Each A and B share receives one non-voting C share. Under a Founder Alignment Agreement, 80% of the founder group's C shares are "stapled": they can only be sold with a matching sale or conversion of voting shares, and 2.5% are released each quarter (all after 32 qualifying quarters) while he stays full-time; 20% are freely saleable at once. The board also agreed to pay further 1:1 Class C dividends to all holders each time the C share's 30-day VWAP doubles from the adjusted USD 580.60 Class A price of 10 Sep 2026, provided annualised return since then is at least 10%. Our reading (est.): Meta gets a non-voting currency for raises, acquisitions and staff pay that does not dilute the founder's vote, and the founder group gets some immediate liquidity without losing votes; the "Additional Dividend" mechanics are, economically, stock splits triggered by price.

Revenue and cash quality test (adapted for an ad platform)
The development-versus-product test does not apply; the equivalent test is how much of the revenue growth turns into cash. In 9M 2026 revenue rose USD 40.6B, operating cash flow rose USD 17.3B and purchases of property and equipment rose USD 34.7B (est. from confirmed figures), so FCF fell USD 18.5B. Growth is price-led (price per ad +14%, impressions +10% in Q3); no customer concentration is disclosed as material; 59% of revenue is outside the US and Canada. A new cost line to watch is "third-party AI token costs", now named in both segments' expenses (confirmed, 10-Q).
